Activation qEEG and Biofeedback Therapy

Articles & Research Citations

Neurocognitive therapy, also called EEG biofeedback or neurofeedback, has been studied by a growing core of researchers since the early 1970's.   Hundreds of studies have been conducted since 1990 on the use of neurotherapy to treat a range of disorders including epilepsy, anxiety, headache, depression, and many others.

Research by Dr. Kirtley Thornton has focused the specific, effective qEEG parameters of cognitive function in normals and thus allows us, finally, to specify a functional map of the cortical electrical activity. With this map in place, we can determine exactly why a child has a learning problem and what the nature of that problem is. All conditions and disorders with a cognitive component can thus be evaluated with this functional map. As the Hubble telescope has allowed us to see space in a different way, we can now see and understand the brain better than we could ever before.

Dr. Thornton has published widely in the relevant peer-reviewed professional journals. Topics covered include the neurophysiology of mathematics, spelling, memory for tasks, and memory for location, among others.
